Today, Blizzard held an online event for the upcoming StarCraft 2 installment, Heart of the Swarm, which saw the premiere of a new trailer. Titled “Vengeance,” because we live in a society that gives media trailers names, the trailer provides a little more insight into Kerrigan’s plight than the last SC2 trailer did, which saw Kerrigan having a rather vivid vision of her destroying a world.
Though there was a good chunk of new footage found in Vengeance, the trailer wasn’t entirely composed of new imagery, as certain scenes were taken from the initial trailer. The ongoing message Vengeance seemed to convey is that in Heart of the Swarm, Kerrigan’s human persona will be fighting against what we’ll call her “zergsona”.
For those of your worried that your salty space hero Jim Raynor may not play a big enough role in StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm, he was featured heavily in the trailer, seemingly at odds with the game’s anti-heroine.
StarCraft 2 Part 2 is set to release on March 12, around two weeks away, and Blizzard will be throwing various launch parties in countries around the world, such as South Korea, the United States, and Australia, to name a few.
If you’d like to make the launch a longer affair, you can participate in a digital launch party starting at 7PM EST on March 11, which will stream the real-life launch events so you can feel like you’re missing out. Then, the game will release at midnight, you’ll beat it the very next day, and have to wait another two years or so until you can finish the last third of the game.
