When Apple released iOS 6, the ability to give apps as gifts was removed. That functionality was returned to the iOS App Store today, and you can once again send your friends and family apps directly from your iDevice.
There’s also a nifty new feature that lets you decide when to send gifts. When you select an app using the action button on the top right corner of any app page, simply hit the “Gift” option, which will allow you to select a date to send the gift.
App gifts can be scheduled up to 90 days in advance, so if you want to make sure mom has a gift on her birthday, schedule it now, and when the big day rolls around, your present is ready to go.
You can send a short message with your gift, and there’s also the option to send gifts to multiple recipients at once if you want to share a popular app with several different friends and family members.
Gifting is a feature that’s immediately available in the App Store, and it’s the perfect instant option for sending a quick, easy gift this holiday season. You can give out your favorite apps, and you don’t even have to get up from your chair. Sounds ideal to me!
